The first two times she has jewels to pay him, but the third time, she has nothing to give. Rumpelstiltskin appears and comes to her rescue by spinning for her but wants something in return. This was a lie told by her father and she begins to cry when she is not able to complete the task. In this story the miller’s daughter is captured by a king for her ability to spin straw into gold. The classic tale of Rumpelstiltskin is a great book to teach children about not talking to strangers.
